New Baby

Last night we told the kids our big news. We are going to have a baby in November. They were both thrilled and they keep talking about it. Derek says "I want a girl because I like pink and Dax wants a boy because he likes blue." I'll just take a healthy baby.

Dax learns to ride a bike

Last Thursday, Dax told us he wanted his training wheels off his bike. Curtis took them off and started teaching him how to ride a two-wheeler. It was a little rough at first, we told Dax if he practiced every day he would be riding his bike in a week. Within four days of practicing he was riding his two-wheeler bike. He is so proud of himself. Maybe this will cut down on the video games ;).

Easter at the Grand Canyon

We went to the Grand Canyon last weekend with Curtis' family who had never been there before. On our way up we stopped in Flagstaff and my Dad joined up there for Saturday. We all had a great time. On the way back we had an Easter Dinner in Flagstaff with Marilyn's Family

PacaDax

My oldest son Dax is 7. He loves to read, build with legos, play video games, swim, and loves anything Star Wars, especially Lego Star Wars, or Star Wars video games. He is extremely smart. I would like to say he gets it from me but I know better, his dad is really the dang smart one. Dax has an amazing vocabulary and he is always using new words that he learns. His teachers call him the "Little Professor". His current teacher, Mrs. Jiminez, told me she loves to call on him, just to hear what is going to say.
He gets his nickname because for a while he was obsessed with the 80's video game Pacman. He actually came up with that name himself while creating a username for a website. He is a very loving thoughtful, sweet boy. He was so wild and hyper as a toddler, I could never imagine he could be tamed by this age. When he was a toddler he was kicked out of everywhere we went. The childcare at the gym, the play area at the grocery store, Preschool, and the Nursery at church. At that time I felt like I had gotten what I deserved because I always looked down on other parents and thought "control your kids". Now I could not ask for a better child.
PacaDax is the first Grandchild on my side of the family and my Mom loved him more than anything. She was so excited to be a Grandma, she just couldn't get enough of him.

Something funny he said to me - The other day he was reading a book about sports and he asked why so many athletes were Black. We explained to him that they had different body types with stronger muscles and that is what helped them be so good at sports. Last night I made homemade bread and he told me that I was a great chef. I cooked as good as Black people are athletes. We all laughed.

Look who came for a swim

I saw these guys in our pool yesterday morning about 6:45. They hung around for a bit and then took off.

Good bye Farley

The time has come to put our dog Farley down.  He has not been well for some time.  He was 9 years old and basically ate himself to death. A few last moments with him,
Every morning Derek would wake up and say "Where is my friend Farley"
