Weird Wild Week
The week seemed to start out like any other week, a little excitement with the inauguration of the new President Obama, and then all hell broke loose. Trey had a bad cough, and it seemed to be getting worse. I kept thinking I should call the Dr., but he didn't have a fever and I thought all they will tell me is it is a virus and wait 10 days. On Tuesday he was supposed to get his shots. I kept thinking I didn't know if I should get him his shots or not with him being sick. Our insurance is weird so we don't go to the Dr. for shots. I tried to call the Dr. to see what they thought about it and I couldn't get through. He took a nap and woke up at about 3:00 p.m. He was really bad and wheezing and having a difficult time breathing. I decided just because he didn't feel good I would not take him to get his shots. Finally, at 4:00 I called the Dr. and told them he was wheezing, etc. They said to get him in asap. So I took him in a 4:30 and as soon as the PA looked at him she knew he was in bad shape. She started him on a breathing treatment ASAP, but it wasn't helping much. Then they put him on oxygen and then wasn't doing much either. They mentioned when I first got there that he might need to go to the hospital. Then they started talking about ambulances. I kept thinking is an ambulance really necessary? From the Drs. office I was about 2 min. from the hospital. They insisted on an ambulance. We hear the sirens and about 8 firemen /EMTs come to check out Trey J. They took him to Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa where there was a pediatric ICU. There wasn't room for me in the ambulance so I drove myself, which was just as well because we ended up spending the night to be treated for RSV. They gave him several breathing treatments and suctioned out his lungs etc. We came home Wednesday afternoon. I was glad to be home. I left the house thinking I was going to a 20 min. Dr. appt and ended up spending the night at the hospital. I was a little grimy with spit-up all over my shirt and no toothbrush, but all is well now.
Here is Trey at the hospital, This is after they took the IV and monitors off. He looks pretty good here.
On Friday Curtis' 90+-year-old Grandma, Aunt, and cousins from ID were coming to AZ to check out some schools in Sedona. They were going to fly into Phx and visit the other family that lives here. While they were here Curtis' mom was going to fly out from CA and visit as well.
Thursday night while Curtis was having a very late meeting with Disgruntled employees who I like to refer to as the "Teamsters" (more drama for the week) Curtis' mom called to say she wasn't coming because the family coming down from ID was in a terrible accident driving to SLC. They hit black ice. Aunt Eja had to be resuscitated and had bad internal injuries, others had broken legs, neck braces, etc. Grandma Eva is a tough 90-year-old. She was wearing her seat belt and had a cut on her arm and a few bruises. Curtis' mom flew to Utah instead to be with her family. They are all going to be ok but his aunt is on a long road to recovery. To end the week, I got sick with a bad cold.
I have never had a week like that and hope not to have one again.

Blessing Day
Trey J was blessed in church yesterday. Curtis did a great job and it helped to have a calm baby. When Curtis said his name Treyson Jake- Derek said to me "Its Dixon, he is naming him wrong" I thought it was quiet enough that nobody heard. When Curtis sat down Derek gave him an earful about not saying Dixon. Curtis said he heard him during the blessing say it should be Dixon. One of my friends asked me how Derek did with the blessing and I told her what he said . She told me she looked over at Derek at the end and thought she could read his lips saying something about Dixon. We thought the Dixon thing would blow over in after a few days. It has been almost 8 weeks and Derek still calls him Dixon and corrects us when we call him Trey.
My friend wrote down what was said in the blessing.
Blessed with the desire to learn
Have the power of discernment of right and wrong
Have a long life, to accomplish much and bring joy to people around him
Have a quick and open mind
He can learn from other’s experiences
Blessed to be kind and nice to people; gentle with the people he meets
He will have joy and excitement as he goes throughout his days
Blessed immediately and through his life
His family is grateful to spend time with him on earth
His family loves him very much
Have the power of discernment of right and wrong
Have a long life, to accomplish much and bring joy to people around him
Have a quick and open mind
He can learn from other’s experiences
Blessed to be kind and nice to people; gentle with the people he meets
He will have joy and excitement as he goes throughout his days
Blessed immediately and through his life
His family is grateful to spend time with him on earth
His family loves him very much
It was just our small immediate family there. A nice day.

Christmas and Snow
My Dad "Pappa" was supposed to come down from Flagstaff on Christmas day, but Flagstaff got hit with a ton of snow. A few good storms just before and after Christmas. He waited a few days to come down. When he got here the back of his truck was full of snow so he unloaded a nice pile in our yard. The kids loved it. They played in it for about 3 days until it all melted away. The neighbor kids Dallin and Westin came and played in it too. The only problem is we don't have very good snow gear so they were cold and wet after just a few minutes. The gloves they are wearing are cloth (not waterproof) and their snowboots I leave in Flagstaff. I never thought there would be a need for them down here in the Valley of the Sun.
We had a great Christmas and spoiled the kids rotten. Pretty fun to have a new Baby this time of year. Dax and Derek got a new PlayStation 2 since the other one died about a month before Christmas. They also got "Pulse Scooters," I think that is what they are called. More encouragement to play outside. They got Bakugan and Ben 10 Alien Force toys. They had a great day.
Birthday #5
Derek turned 5 on December 23. We had a party for him at Makutu's Island. It is the best way to have a party. All you do is show up and the kids get to run around in a huge tree house for a few hours. Makutu's Island supplies the cake and pizza and cleans up. Everyone had a great time and he even got a real Indiana Jones whip. No more using the belt and maybe he will dump the pimp hat as well. He got all kinds of toys -Some type of Clone gun from Star Wars that he has wanted for months, legos and anything else a 5-year-old could want. My favorite part was my friend Janine who moved to Texas this summer showed up and surprised us. She had coordinated it with another friend and she could see 4 of her friends while she was in town to visit her family for the holidays.
