Flag Football 2012

Derek just finished his second season of Flag Football







He ended up on the same team as before with Coach Shelby.  His team did really well this year and they made it to the "Bowl Games"  Derek's team was playing for first place, but they lost so they came in second.  It was a great game and they played well.  Derek had a pretty UN-eventful season until this playoff game where he had 3 tackles and 1 touchdown.  Wahoo!!  He makes us proud.

Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer Weiner......

The Oscar Meyer Weinermobile came to town.  I love this vehicle.  It is such a crazy, fun marketing idea, and who doesn't love a giant hotdog on wheels???

Back when I was in college in Hawaii, I happened to be in Honolulu with my friends for the weekend.  It ended up being a crazy weekend of wild ups and downs.  At one point we were a bit stranded waiting for some other friends to join us (more of a rescue) when what should pull up??? The Weinermobile.  It was driving around, honking, and having a great time.  We ran up and got a few pictures.  It was a great memory.

Occasionally I will see the Weinermobile driving around and it always puts a smile on my face.  When I saw the poster that the Weinermoble was coming to our Fry's grocery store, I knew I had to take my kids.  I told them we were going to see the World's Largest Hot Dog. They were a bit surprised to see that it was actually a car.  It was a fun afternoon.

I want to eat you up

I think Trey is at such a cute age. In the last few weeks, we finally got him potty trained. Wahoo! I feel like I am starting to taste freedom. He is a tiny bit independent, and he talks so cute. The other day I was walking out of the gym with him and he was just talking and being so cute. I thought I wish I could just freeze you at this age.

On Sunday he gave his first prayer in Primary. When he went to Primary for the first time last month he was dying to talk into the microphone. He kept trying to go up and talk into it. I let the secretary know that he would love to give a prayer. The first opportunity she had she assigned him. He did so well and he was so proud of himself.

The other night I was putting him to bed and he was just being cute. I don't know what he was saying or doing, but once again I thought I just want to freeze you at this stage. I said to him " I just want to eat you up, you are so cute...num, num, num" Trey said "I'm not food"

I dropped him off at preschool today and his teacher, Ms. Angela, said I have to tell you what Morgan (one of the girls in his class) said yesterday. They were sitting there doing their work and she said "isn't Trey so cute, just look at him sitting there, he is so little and so cute" It was just sweet how she said it. Trey is the youngest and the only boy in his preschool.

Our First Middle School Dance

Dax and I went to the annual Mother-Son/Father-Daughter Dinner & Dance at his school.,   I don't think Dax really wanted to go, but I thought it would be good for him so I made him go, even though I thought it might be the awkward middle school dance. I never went to any middle school dances either, I don't blame him for not wanting to go.   It ended up being a really fun night.

First, they served us an Italian Dinner, Lasagna, Salad and cookies.  The Principal, Mr. Shelley, was friends with the DJ named Ron Howard.  Ron Howard had been DJ'ing for so long ( he didn't actually say) but he says he has parents come up to him and tell Ron, that he taught them to dance when they were kids.  So this DJ goes around to youth activities and actually teaches them how to dance. He is really good at what he does and has a great personality for it.   I hadn't even been taught the basics that he showed us.  It really is quite magical how when you know what you are doing and move your bodies to make it flow and come together so smoothly.  He taught us simple steps, then he went into advanced stuff like spins and flips.  WOW, it really is quite fun and amazing when you know what you are doing.  Dax and I  needed work on our spins and flips.  At one moment Dax and I were trying the spin and Dax helped me land flat on my BUTT.   I was hoping nobody saw, but people did.  He also taught us some group dances like the Electric Slide, Thriller, and one that Ron choreographed for Poker Face that spread all over the country. That was his favorite, he was proud of it and it was really fun.
It was great to have a night out with Dax and it was a good learning experience, in manners, etiquette, and dance for Dax.  I wish I had done something like that when I was in middle school.
