Unoffocial Start of Summer.

LegoLand-

A few weeks ago my friend ,Tiffany Andersen, texted me to see if Trey and I would like to go to LegoLand in San Diego with her and her son Soren who is Trey's buddy.  It would be May 17-19 and they would miss 3 days of school?  Wow spoiled rotten children.  I asked her what the occasion and she said that with her three older children they had always taken them on their own vacation with a parent. It was now Soren's turn, and Legoland would not be a place that his older siblings would be interested in. She asked Soren if he would like to invite a friend, and he chose Trey.  We had a great time.  Soren and Trey got along great, they were well behaved and they were the perfect age for Legoland.

Our family had been to Legoland before (Trey was about 2 so he doesn't remember).  Now they have added the Legoland Hotel, which I thought was a great addition.I thought the Hotel was better than legoland Itself. Legoland is good, especially for younger kids but it's not Disneyland.

This little castle area was brilliant.  The kids could run around and play all around it, little places to hide and crawl. All around the castle were big Lego pits.  Tons of Lego's for the kids the make their creations.  The girls made all kinds of Lego creations, the boys made  guns, guns and more guns.  Then they ran around pretending to shoot each other.

Soren and Trey loved this Roller Coaster.  I had to sit out because someone had to hold all the stuff...and I don't like roller coasters

AZ Grand- We arrived home from San Diego on Thursday evening, Trey went to school on Friday, then we joined our friends, the Andersen's (Soren and Tiffany again) the Thomas', Fosters, Kubrickys, and Baily's for a weekend at the AZ Grand Resort water park.  The kids had a great time playing in the water with their friends, then we came home to prepare a talk for Derek to give in Church on Sunday.  This would be his first Sacrament talk.  He wasn't really nervous and pretty much wrote the entire thing himself (with some coaching)  It was on why the scriptures were important.  He did well.

The kids went to school on Monday, then finally Tuesday May 24th was the last day.  Wahoo!!

Greek God

The 6th Graders did a unit on Greek God's.  Derek was assigned Cupid.  I don't remember much about the Greek God's,  when he told me he had to dress up like Cupid, I said "do we need to dress you up in wings and a diaper? "

I did a little research on what he could wear to school that would be appropriate and this is what we came up with:

 The assignment was to come to school in your costume.  As I walked Trey to school that morning I saw a lot of kids (boys and girls) and white dresses or I guess I should say Toga's.  The kids corrected me and told me Romans wore Toga's, they were doing Greek. They did their presentations in their costumes, then ate Greek Food.  Sounded like a fun and memorable day.
