In January it was time for the annual Cub Scout Pine Wood Derby. I attempted once again to try to help make a winning car. I watched YouTube videos and bought a Dremmel tool in hopes that this would be the year. Derek won the first race, but then it went downhill. He seemed OK with it. I think it bugs me more than anyone else. I really want a winning car for once. Trey, the little car freak, gets pretty excited to make a car. I'm glad he has a passion. It is kind of cute right now.

I took the boys to the Annual Scout O Rama. It was all the way up in Glendale at the University of Phoenix stadium. It sounded fun, and it was a beautiful day to be out of the house. I remember my brothers going to the Scout O Rama in Flagstaff and they always loved it, even though they didn't necessarily love Scouts. It was a fun day, it was crowded, and there was quite a bit of waiting in line. There were some great booths. Trey's favorite thing was making a catapult from a wire hanger, rubber band, and a plastic spoon, Dax and Derek liked playing at the four-square booth. They all three had a good time at the Angry Bird Booth. Some scout troops were very creative in what they came up with. Although some of the Scout Masters were jerks. They kicked Dax out of line because his scout shirt wasn't tucked in, then they gave him a hard time about not wearing "authorized official scout pants, and neckerchief " I told them our troop didn't require them to wear the official pants and neckerchief. Then they asked where we were from like we were from another planet. I told Dax to take his scout shirt off since he kept getting harassed. They were way nicer to the cub scouts. I told someone about this and they said "I thought scouts were "friendly"
I decided there is a difference between Mormon (LDS) scouts and other scouts. For the LDS scouts, we have a religion, and for the others, Scouts is their religion. I was scouted out by the time we left, and we didn't even stay that long. The kids had fun.

The next day I had to present at "Eight is Great" it is a little program they do for the kids turning eight. They go over baptism and the programs for the kids, which is Cub Scouts for the boys. I'm the Den Leader so I get to give the parents a little overview of the program.
I saw these little Lego guys and made them for the incoming boys. I know boys that age love Legos and they are pretty excited to start Cub Scouts. It seemed like the perfect project. It was a bit of a challenge making the uniform sticker, but they came out cute. The boys seemed excited to get them. I hope I actually see them in their uniforms by the time they come in. At my house, I'm pretty certain the Lego guy would be taken apart and made into something else by the time the boys turned eight and were old enough to come to the first meeting.
