Allergies

Dax has had bad allergies since he was about 3 yrs old. After taking him to the pediatrician a few times, they kept telling me to give him Zyrtec. It wasn't enough so I started giving him Benadryl or Dimetapp on top of the Zyrtec. He was still constantly congested and even sent home from school twice because he was so congested he was disrupting the class, with his snorting, sniffing, and sneezing. The school nurse and pharmacist said I was giving him way too much medicine and it wasn't good for him. I finally took him to the allergy Doctor

The allergy doctor was a very unpleasant visit for Dax. The nurse pricked him 60 times to test him for all the different allergens. It if swells up he is allergic, once it swells he can't touch it or itch it for 10 minutes. UGHH it was a grueling 10 minutes first for getting pricked that many times and then immediately the majority of the pricks started to swell. He went from tears to storming around the room, to smashing up against walls, and then started the cycle again. I tried to help him, but there wasn't much I could do. Finally, they checked him and gave him something to stop the itching and swelling. A happy moment. I think he was allergic to 40/60 mostly grass and some pollens. He has new medicine and when he takes it he is no longer congested. Yea he seems like a new kid. No more snorting and sneezing.

A new Car

Hello Honda Odyssey Goodbye Durango 

 A few weeks ago we were talking about what we wanted to accomplish for 2011. We both agreed we wanted/needed to get a new car probably in late/summer or fall. Curtis has been done with this car for quite a while. As luck would have it the Durango started to have more troubles and it was going to cost more than it was worth to repair it, and I think we were all happy to move on to something else. If we were to go on a family trip, we really didn't fit in it anymore with all 5 of us with stroller/car seats and luggage. I had been resisting a minivan for years. After I was enlightened to how much nicer they are for families I was sold. The first time I test-drove the Honda Odyssey back in 2008, I was amazed at all the features and was certain this car had to have been designed by a mom. I knew exactly what we were going to get. We ended up getting the fully loaded minivan with a DVD player, sunroof, automatic doors, and all the gadgets. The kids love love love this car, especially Trey. For a class assignment, Derek was supposed to write a description of his house, he threw in there "we have a Honda Odyssey". There is so much more room and just better suited for us.

Trey was giving me fits, kicking and screaming every time I tried to buckle him into the Durango.  The minivan is magical.  I open up the sliding door, and Trey climbs right in and buckles himself.
