Super Fun Summer

We have had a super fun summer. We hit the ground running. As soon as the last bell rang on June 1 for the kids to get out of school for summer. Curtis took Dax and Derek and drove them to Southern CA. They hit Magic Mountain for a few days, and then went down to San Diego and hit Sea World. A great trip for the boys. Each morning the boys got to Magic Mountain early before it opened, they had stuff going on to get the crowd warmed up and excited to get in. For two days in a row they had a kid dance contest. Both days Derek got up there and showed the crowd his stuff. The crowd went wild and he won the dance contest both days. I think it is mostly because he has no shame when it comes to his dance moves. He just loves to do it. His prize was a pass to the front of the line. Wahoo. What else what you want at Magic Mountain???

Curtis also said that Derek was the Chick magnet. Every time he turned around Derek was talking to a group of girls it didn't matter their age or size. He talked to some from Europe and all over.

They rode the worst throw-up ride roller coasters you could imagine. I can't believe they were not scared, and they loved every minute of it. I think they felt like they were having fun and I got left home. Not so much I hate roller coasters, I am so glad they had that adventure with out me. It worked out because while they were gone my friends from college came to visit. It had been planned long ago that Stephanie's sister was going to surprise her and fly her here for her 40th Birthday- (I can't believe I'm in that age group now). So we called Mary and had her plan to come out as well. They are always a fun group. We had a good time. I can't believe we are still friends 20 years later. Stephanie Pilling Carter, Marilyn Lund Johnson, Mary Farman Fatupaito, JJ Newell Lorenzen "The Wicked Chicks" That was our name back in the day, I think JJ came up with it and I have no idea how it evolved to that.

The Southern CA road trip had to happen when it did because we had a full summer planned and it was the only time we could fit that in, it was also a good time to go before everyone was out for summer and the temps were still cooler rather than hotter. As soon as they got back Dax and Derek went to Ty Detmer's Football camp. It was a great experience for all the boys. Ty Detmer was so nice and really worked with kids. Our boys had a great time. Especially Curtis who has always loved Ty Detmer all through his BYU and NFL career. Curtis is such a fan we even named our dog "Detmer" after him. He took the time to talk to all three of them.
