San Diego

We took a quick weekend trip over to the "estate" (Dax's words) in San Diego. We had a great nice time. Trey was much better in the car ride, but not so nice at night. Maybe someday traveling with him will be enjoyable. We went to Sea World, which was a lot of fun.
Trey actually was excited to see Elmo, it just doesn't show in this picture
Dax and Derek loved playing at the beach. We thought it was too cold to get in, we told them they could just stick their feet in. That didn't last, they couldn't wait to get fully immersed. Trey loved it too. It was a little cloudy and rainy while we were there. One day we went to Legoland and hardly anybody was there. We felt like we had the entire park to ourselves. No lines and a few rides they rode over and over without getting off. On one ride Derek was the only person on it. Our kids finally understood why we won't go to Disneyland in the summer or during peak times.

Science Camp

The Fifth Graders at Hancock get to go to Science Camp. This year it was at camp Sky Y up near Prescott. Much cooler weather than what these desert kids are used to. We packed him for pretty cool weather, especially the nights. Dax was pretty excited about it. Mostly because they get out of regular school work for a few days and he would also be able to get away from a girl named Jeanie who has been harassing Dax at school. He was so happy the boys and girls were separated so he wouldn't be anywhere near her. This is the tower they climb, this is not Dax. I got these pictures from other parents. I think Dax said he climbed partially up but his hands were freezing, and it was too awkward to do with gloves on so he opted out. They stayed in cabins and it sounds like it was pretty nice. I thought it was going to be a bit more rugged. This is where they ate. This was Dax's favorite part of science camp. The snowball fight. When he told me about this I thought it was actually outdoors with real snow. Then I see these pictures and not so much. When I talked to the other parents that were escorts, they said Dax was having a terrific time. He did say that his stomach was upset the second day, which put a damper on things for him. Overall I think he had a good time. One of my friends, Christy Wanless, went as an escort, she said she talked to Dax's cabin Dad about Dax he said "that kid is going to be the next Bill Gates"

Papago Park

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon yesterday, we decided to go explore the area. We checked out Papago Park. I didn't know much about it, only that it was near the zoo. We packed dinner and headed over. We had a great time and the kids loved climbing the rock formations.
At the top of one of the formations with Tempe behind us.
"I'm the king of the world" so they think
Trey loved it too. There was a playground at the bottom. The kids loved that part too. A place we will have to re-visit.
